75 Years of the Dollbergen Site – One Group, Many Strong Companies

What began in Dollbergen in 1951 has since grown into an internationally active corporate group with a shared goal: circular value creation and responsible resource management. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Dollbergen site, the AVISTA OIL Group looks back on its development – and on the companies worldwide that have shaped this journey over the decades.

Dollbergen – Founding Site and an Important Pillar of the Group

The Dollbergen site marks the origin of today’s AVISTA OIL Group. Since 1951, used oils have been collected, re‑refined and returned to the value chain here – an activity that has been continuously developed and expanded over the years.

Today, AVISTA OIL Deutschland GmbH combines key activities at its Dollbergen location, including used oil collection, re‑refining, base oil production and lubricant manufacturing. With around 355 employees and a robust infrastructure, the site is a reliable and established part of the Group and continues to play an important role in its development.

USA – Sustainability on an Industrial Scale

With Universal Environmental Services (UES), the AVISTA OIL Group also maintains a strong presence in North America. Based in Peachtree City, Georgia, the company has been part of the Group since 2011 and is today one of the largest used oil collectors worldwide.

Universal Environmental Services covers the entire value chain – from large‑scale used oil collection and re‑refining to the production of Group II+ base oils and lubricants. Its own re‑refinery and extensive collection capacities make the site a key component of the global Group. With around 435 employees, UES stands for long‑term decision‑making and sustainable growth. Future‑focused projects such as the development of innovative GIII+ base oils underline the company’s technological ambition.

Europe – Regional Strength, United by a Circular Approach

Across Europe, the AVISTA OIL Group is represented by several companies, each specialized in its regional market and collectively advancing the European circular economy.

AVISTA OIL s.r.o. (Czech Republic) has been a central player in nationwide used oil collection for many years and is today the largest collector of waste mineral oils in the country, combining environmental responsibility with close customer relationships.

AVISTA Oil B.V. (Netherlands) stands for expertise in used oil collection as well as in the management of additional waste streams. By continuously expanding its services, the company contributes to reliably closing material loops.

AVISTA OIL nv (Belgium) is firmly anchored in the workshop and garage market. With a pragmatic approach and clear focus on implementation, the company has further strengthened its market position in recent years.

AVISTA Oil d.o.o. Serbia has been building a structured collection network since 2018 in a still‑developing market. Its aim is to establish professional used oil disposal systems and promote sustainable circular structures in Southeastern Europe.

Denmark – Circular Economy with an In‑House Re‑Refinery

A particularly important role within the European Group is played by AVISTA OIL in Denmark. Here, the AVISTA OIL Group combines many years of experience in used oil collection with modern re‑refining.

With AVISTA Green, the Group operates the only re‑refinery of its kind in Scandinavia. The state‑of‑the‑art facility enables the high‑quality re‑refining of large volumes of used oil into base oils and makes a significant contribution to CO₂ reduction and the European circular economy. Planned capacity expansions underline the site’s long‑term development perspective.

One Group – Many Locations, One Shared Understanding

Different markets, sizes and areas of focus – yet a shared foundation: all companies are united under the roof of the AVISTA OIL Group, pursuing the common goal of keeping used oil in the circular economy as a valuable resource.

From Dollbergen – Moving Forward Together

Seventy‑five years after its beginnings at the Dollbergen site, the AVISTA OIL Group is internationally positioned, technologically capable and future‑oriented. With strong locations across Europe and the USA, the Group continues on its path with responsibility for the environment, its markets and future generations.
